Richmond Hill gymnast earns berth on Ontario team

Alessa Salvaggio is in some select company.

The Markham-based Tristars Gymnastics Club member and Richmond Hill resident gained a berth on an Ontario team that will compete in the upcoming Magical Classic Cup gymnastics tournament in Orlando, Fla. in February.

Salvaggio earned the hounour after competing in a 25-performer field at a tour selection meet last weekend in Mississauga when she placed fifth in the Level 9 age 13 and older division.

The top eight performers gained entry onto the team.

In individual events, Salvaggio was first on vault, fourth in floor, eighth on the bars and ninth in beam.
