Open house seeks views on natural heritage strategy
Keely Grasser
Residents are invited to learn about and give input on a Markham-wide natural heritage strategy.
The town is holding an open house on its environment policy review and consolidation study on Dec. 9.
This public meeting is part of the second phase of the study — a background report and policy framework.
The study is intended to make sure environmental and open-house policies of the town’s official plan are as up-to-date as possible and are in line with current provincial and conservation authority policies.
The study will also develop an overall strategy for land use planning purposes.
Public input will help guide this long-term plan, a part of Markham’s growth management strategy.
The open house will be held in council chambers at the Civic Centre. The open house begins at 6:30 p.m. and the presentation starts at 7 p.m.
If you’re unable to attend the meeting, you can still provide comments on the study until Jan. 12.
