The Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum is bringing Christmas past into the present with its annual Candlelight Christmas tour.
“The idea is to inspire the scents, the smells and the tastes of Christmas past,” Stephanie Foley, the museum’s acting curator said.
On Saturday, Dec. 13, people can experience what Christmas was like in a 19th-century log home and a Victorian farmhouse, as well as take a horse-drawn hay ride through Vandorf Park.
“It’s really a magical evening without the electricity,” she said.
Following the tour, visitors are invited back to the museum to sample plum pudding, traditional trifle, shortbread and lavender cookies, as well as hot apple cider.
“It’s a great way to get the season started,” Ms Foley said.
Tour space is limited and reservations are required as a maximum of 45 people can be accommodated.
Tours take place on Dec. 13 at 6:30 and 8 p.m.
Cost is adults $15, children $10. All proceeds go toward the museum.
