The Stouffville District Secondary School Spartan senior boys’ basketball team put in some overtime during a road game against Pierre Elliott Trudeau Secondary School (Markham) Monday.
Unfortunately for the Spartans, their efforts fell short in a 66-60 O.T. loss.
Adam Prokop was high scorer for the Spartans with 21 points.
Now 0-2 on the season, the Spartans resume York Region high school play today at Brother Andre in Markham at 5:15 p.m. Preceding that game, the Spartans juniors will face Brother Andre in their second league outing of the season at 4 p.m.
Girls drop openersBoth the Spartans senior and junior girls’ volleyball teams lost their tier one season openers Tuesday at home.
In senior play, the Spartans lost to Thornlea 2-0 (25-15, 25-13) and to Richmond Hill 2-0 (25-15, 25-16).
The junior Spartans lost their games to Markville 2-0 (25-20, 25-15) and to Richmond Hill 2-0 (25-7, 25-15).
The Spartans seniors and juniors resume league play Dec. 11 when they host games starting at 3:30 p.m. The seniors will face Langstaff and Bayview while the juniors will host Dr. G.W. Williams and Bayview.
