Terry Fox skate has town closing in on $1 million for fund

Supporters of the Terry Fox Foundation in Whitchurch-Stouffville normally lace up their track shoes for the annual fall run in Terry's name.

On Sunday, they will strap on blades for the second annual Terry Fox Skate.

From 1:10 to 4:30 p.m. at the Stouffville Arena, you can take part in thee free skate. Donations will go to the fund for cancer research.

The event is being hosted by the Whitchurch-Stouffville Minor Hockey Association. Member teams and players have been invited to take part.

The association and town have donated ice time for the event.

Terry Fox volunteers will also take part in Saturday's Stouffvile Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade.

Stouffville residents have raised $990,000 for the foundation through school and community events.

The community is expected to break the $1-million mark at next year's run, Sept. 13.
