Castle’s team king
James Castle shot a two-round 146 (70-76) to earn a second-place finish in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association men’s individual golf championships at Upper Canada Golf Club in Morrisburg Wednesday.
The Stouffville resident who is in his third-year in the pro golf management program at Humber College, finished five shots behind teammate Mike Zizek, who carded a gold-medal winning 141 (70-71).
Humber’s men’s entry won the Division One team title, with a 588, for the third straight year.
The Humber team will go to Prince Edward Island for the Ping Canadian Colleges Athletic Association Golf Open Championship at the Fox Meadow Golf Club from Oct. 13 to 17.
A Stouffville District Secondary School student, Castle was last year’s CCAA individual champion.
Brown third in finale
Ryan Brown carded a two-round, 12-under par 156 (78-78) to finish third in his age group division at last weekend’s Canadian Junior Golf Association Ontario Fall Series Finale at Horseshoe Resort Valley Course near Barrie.

Winning streak over
The Stouffville minor midget Clippers saw their six-game Ontario Minor Hockey Association winning streak come to an end Tuesday with a 2-1 road loss to Orillia.
Chris Smith scored the game’s first goal to give the Clippers a 1-0 lead in the first period.
But Orillia rallied to tie the game in the second period and score the game-winner in the third period.
The Clippers outshot Orillia 25-10, but ran into a hot goalkeeper.
The Clippers host East Gwillimbury today at the Stouffville Arena at 7:30 p.m.
