Your chance to jump back in time is coming to an end.

The Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum’s annual exhibit finishes Sept. 12 and, so far, organizers say it had been a success.

“We’ve definitely had more children coming through, which is great,” said Stephanie Foley, acting curator at the museum.

Many new visitors have come in just to see the exhibit, thanks to local publicity, she said.

This year’s exhibit theme is Fast Forward Through a Child’s Eyes and features a narration from an 11 year-old girl, Annie, living in 1884.

“Annie tells the story about what life was like in 1884,” said Ms  Foley. “She says what her mom would be doing, what her dad would be doing and what her siblings would be doing.”

Annie also describes her school life, activities, community and her future.

The exhibit is more child-centered, she said, which she hopes makes it easier for young people to understand.

New this year is an audio portion at each section of the exhibit, which explains various points about that area.

Labels are also set up at each station and written in a Grade 3 to 4 level, catering to the younger crowd.

The exhibit is only open until mid-September, when it will be turned back into the museum’s multi-purpose space to handle school groups.

In addition to the exhibit, visitors can explore the museum grounds and tour an old school house, log cabin and Vandorf public school.

Admission to the exhibit is free.

Donations are welcome.
