177th plowing match set

It’s an institution in this rural-based community.

Several Whitchurch-Stouffville residents will take part in the 177th York Region Plowmen’s Association match Saturday.

The all-day affair starts at 9 a.m. at Herrelea Farms in Uxbridge.

Antique plows and horse-drawn outfits are schedule to take part, as well as more modern equipment.

Competitors will be pursuing cash prizes and annual bragging rights.

A luncheon will be held at 12:30, with tickets available from association directors.

Ken Wells is president of the York association.

The site is at 12680 Durham Rd. 1, between Udora and Leaskdale.

The Durham match is being held on the same site this weekend.
