The 2008 edition of the region's business directory contains listings for nearly 27,000 businesses.

Having everything in one place should make it easy for job seekers to hone their searches and for clients looking for that right product.

"The directory promotes local businesses, supports a range of business and consumer activities and showcases the diverse nature of York Region's economy," regional chairperson and CEO Bill Fisch said.

Manufacturing, business services and personal services are the three biggest industries.

The document contains data compiled in a door-to-door survey of employers.

It is available at www.york.ca or on a searchable CD-ROM. The latter costs $180 but is free of charge to non-profit organizations, libraries and municipalities.
