A 20-year-old Woodbridge man, identified as the driver of an SUV from which five people were ejected in Barrie yesterday, was released from hospital overnight, according to police.

At about 11:50 a.m., the driver of a Toyota 4Runner the men were riding in lost control on southbound Hwy. 400, south of Duckworth Street.

The 4Runner hit the centre median, flipped over the steel guardrail and rolled into the northbound lanes, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

Five men, none of whom were wearing seatbelts, were thrown from the 4Runner and taken to the hospital, police said.

A 19-year-old Toronto man was airlifted to Sunnybrook hospital and died late last night.

A 17-year-old Mississauga male youth was airlifted to St. Michael’s Hospital with serious head injuries and listed in critical condition.

The Woodbridge man and two other men, a 19-year-old from Mississauga and a 22-year-old Toronto resident were given medical treatment and discharged overnight.

Police had not released any names as of this morning, citing an ongoing probe into the crash.
