A man is dead after a two-car crash in Thornhill over the lunch hour.
At about 12:50 p.m., emergency workers were dispatched to Hwy. 7 west of Hunter’s Point Drive after a black Chevrolet Cavalier and a black Ford Explorer collided, York Regional Police Const. Gary Phillips said.
One man was confirmed dead at 3 p.m. but no other information about him was available.
There were also reports from the scene that a second male injured in the crash had walked to an ambulance and was believed to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Const. Phillips said.
Hwy. 7 will be closed between Bathurst Street and Hunter’s Point Drive, which is west of Yonge Street for the investigation and police are urging drivers to avoid the area.
Reports stating a woman was injured in the collision were not accurate, Const. Phillips said.
The cause of the collision was not immediately available. No charges have been laid.
Investigators were appealing for witnesses to the crash.
