A Toronto man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a Thornhill bank last month.
On Aug. 29, just after 4 p.m., a man walked into the Royal Bank at 8165 Yonge St., near Kirk Drive, pulled out a note stating he was armed with a gun and demanded cash from a teller, police said.
After getting money, the man ran from the branch.
The teller was not hurt and no gun was seen.
The same day, Ontario Provincial Police arrested a man after a short vehicle pursuit and foot chase. At the time, OPP did not know about the Royal Bank robbery, according to York police.
After an investigation by members of York’s hold-up investigators and a crime analyst, police determined a person arrested by the OPP was driving a stolen F-150 pick-up truck, the vehicle linked to the Royal Bank robbery.
A 24-year-old Toronto man is charged with robbery and disguise with intent.
He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in a Newmarket court Sept. 16.
