Mavericks third in YRAA senior boys’ golf championships

The Markville Secondary School Mavericks senior boys’ golf team recorded a third-place finish in Tuesday’s York Region Athletic Association championships at St. Andrews Valley Golf Club near Aurora.

The team of Ryan Seager, Michael Mound and Dylan Foster carded a 255 to finish 15 shots behind first-place Sir William Mulock Secondary School (Newmarket), which had a 240. Seager shot a team-leading seven-over par 79 while Mound had an 81 and Foster 95.

A total of 16 teams took the course.

In individual competition, Patrick McRae of Markham District High School finished third with a six-over par 78.

McRae trailed winner Taylor Pendrith of Bayview Secondary School by three shots.

In the junior boys’ field, Truman Tai of Markham District High School finished second in the individual competition.

Tai shot a seven-over par 79 and finished two shots behind Shyamal Nagindas of Dr. G.W. Williams Secondary School (Aurora).
