Sam Batten, a member of the McMaster University Marauders women’s soccer team and Stouffville District Secondary School graduate, was recently named to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport second team all-star squad.

Manning the striker position, the 19-year-old Stouffville resident is in her second year at the Hamilton school.

She scored eight goals in 16 games this season.

Majoring in kinesiology, Batten helped the Marauders record an 8-4-5 overall mark before they were eliminated in the Ontario University Athletics quarter-finals by Wilfrid Laurier University 1-0.
