York Regional Police are unveiling a museum-quality bust of a man whose remains were found almost 30 years ago in Markham.
New information in the cold case will be revealed Dec. 1 at the police detachment in Markham.
At about 8:30 p.m. July 16, 1980, a Markham man pulled his car over on the Eleventh Concession north of Steeles Avenue.
When he got out of his car, he found what is believed to be human skeletal remains.
To this day, the identity of the remains is unknown.
Forensic testing revealed the remains belonged to a Caucasian man between 25 and 40 years of age at the time of death.
He likely was about five-feet, seven-inches tall with a slim build, weighing between 100 and 120 pounds and had dark-brown hair that was about four inches long.
Along with the skeletal remains, police found a pair of ladies red high-heeled shoes, white socks, jeans and a powder compact with mirror.
These items are believed to have been worn by the victim.
