The Victory Lap Charity Program takes a victory lap through Newmarket today.

Back for its sixth year, the fundraising campaign on behalf of the Children’s Miracle Network is closing in on the $1-million mark in donations. Organizers hope to top the $300,000 raised last summer to help reach the historic fundraising milestone.

The program’s tour of three provinces and 51 Ontario Wal-Mart stores is nearing its end and requires the community’s support to help spread the word.

Visitors to today’s event at the Newmarket Wal-Mart can expect displays, special giveaways and a full-size replica of Andrew Ranger’s Nascar race car, in which he won the Nascar Canada championship. Those who wish to take a picture next to the car will be given a complimentary photograph.

The race car  will be in the parking lot  from 1 to 7 p.m. at 17940 Yonge St.
