Markham resident Dawson Marriam, 9, has been chosen as one of six finalists who have a shot at the title of “World’s Cutest Vegetarian Kid”.
The annual contest is run by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
The winner will receive a PETAKids prize pack with T-shirts, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk’s book, 50 Awesome Ways Kids can Help Animals and a spotlight in PETA’s quarterly magazine, Animal Times.
Dawson loves animals, particularly his 6-month-old adopted kitten, Jasmine. He says the main reason he went vegetarian is that “eating meat made him feel like he was eating his best friend”.
