A Markham man has been charged in connection with the robbery of one gas station and a gunpoint demand for cash at another.
On Wednesday at about 11:10 p.m., a man pulled into the Sunoco at 2210 Stouffville Rd., west of Woodbine Avenue, in the Whitchurch-Stouffville community of Gormley.
He pumped a small amount of gas and walked into the store, where he pulled out a silver handgun and demanded cash, York Regional Police said. After getting money, he left in a burgundy Mercury Sable.
Approximately six hours later, at about 5:25 a.m. Thursday, a man pulled into the Petro-Canada at 2830 16th Ave., west of Woodbine, in Markham.
After fuelling a vehicle, he walked into the store, pulled a handgun and demanded cash, police said.
A clerk refused to hand over any money and the man fled the area. The employees at both stations were not hurt. After the second incident, a man was arrested at his home.
A 29-year-old Markham man is charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of using a replica firearm and taking a vehicle without consent.
