Some places might mark Pakistan’s independence with a solemn event, but not in Markham.
Rides, a wide variety of food and live music is planned for the 15th annual Pakistani Independence Day celebrations Aug. 3 at Markham Fairgrounds.
“It’s a cultural family event. There is something for everybody,” said Javeed Malik, president of organizer Diamond Promotions.
“The kids get rides, there is shopping for the ladies, the concert is for the teenagers and food for everyone.”
The fun runs from noon to 11:30 p.m. The concert is from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Admission is $10. Children younger than six get in free.
The fairgrounds are at McCowan and Elgin Mills roads.
