Programs at three Markham organizations are getting a boost of almost $180,000 from the province.

Markham Sports Council, Pathways for Children Youth and Families of York Region and Across U-Hub are splitting $179,770 from the Communities in Action Fund.

The province did not reveal how much is going to each group, but all are using their new funds on two-year projects.

The council is using its grant for to strengthen programming capacity of the town’s sport and recreation organizations. Across U-Hub is creating a project to offer physical activity programming and leadership opportunities to 825 youths. Pathways is developing a recreation program for 810 at-risk children and youths.

The fund, which helps non-profit organizations, has given out $32 million over the the past five years.
