York Regional Police drug investigators seized millions of dollars worth of marijuana after three grow operations were raided this week.On Monday, officers discovered about 780 pot plants in various stages of growth, worth an estimated $780,000 on the streets, at a commercial building on Telson Road, in the Victoria Park and Steeles avenues area of Markham, according to Det.-Const. Thomas Thompson.Suspects, who police linked to the grow operation, led officers on a brief pursuit, which ended after a vehicle struck a tree.No one was hurt in the collision, he said.Three Toronto men, aged 31, 27 and 35 are charged with production of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.On Tuesday, police used a drug warrant at a home on Colesbrook Road, in the Bathurst Street and Gamble Road area of Richmond Hill. Once inside, investigators discovered 1,280 marijuana plants, worth approximately $1.28-million on the streets, Det.-Const. Thompson said.A 33-year-old Vaughan woman and a 24-year-old Hamilton man are charged with drug production and possession offences, as well as the theft of hydro.During an investigation into the Colesbrook address, police learned of another pot grow at a home on Henderson Avenue in the Thornhill area of Markham, according to Det.-Const. Thompson. Inside the home, police discovered 500 budding pot plants, worth an estimated $500,000.Police say some of the signs a marijuana grow is operating in your neighbourhood include the sound of electrical generators and fans, heavy traffic at odd times of the day and night and unusual garbage such as fertilizer containers.
