Rumours of his departure have been greatly exaggerated, Newmarket-Aurora MPP Frank Klees says.
Mr. Klees was responding to recent media reports indicating he was contemplating giving up his seat in the Ontario legislature to pursue a riding for the federal Conservative party in an election that could kick off as early as Sunday.
The report also states Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory would most likely take a run at the vacant seat.
Mr. Klees asserted the opinion, authored by Toronto Sun columnist Christina Blizzard, was off base.
“There is absolutely no truth to that story and I have made it very clear that I am committed to serving my constituents and that I am committed to the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario and its leader, John Tory,” he said.
“I have no intention, whatsoever, of running federally in the next election.”
