Two York Region residents face a slate of charges in connection with a number of thefts from vehicles in Aurora.

Last Thursday, at about 3:30 a.m., officers arrived to the Aurora Heights and Kemano drives area after being told about a pair of males who may have broken into vehicles, York Regional Police said.

The officers found two people with backpacks in the area smoking what police said appeared to be marijuana.

Both were arrested for possession drugs and were then searched.

The officers seized a number of stolen items.

A 17-year-old Newmarket youth, who cannot be identified, is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of break and enter tools, two counts of breaching release conditions and possession of a controlled substance.

Justin Drake, 20, of Richmond Hill, is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of break and enter tools and possession of a controlled substance.

The charges have not been proven in court.
