A hearing to decide on Lebovic Homes’ plan to build an 18-hole golf course and 75-unit condominium complex on Leslie Street, just north of Bloomington Road in Aurora, begins at the Ontario Municipal Board tomorrow.

The board, a provincial body that makes decisions on developments and can override politicians, rejected an application last week, supported by several residents and council, that the hearing be presided over by a joint body, including the province’s environmental review panel, which would give a more thorough review of the environmental aspects of the application.

Residents, council and environmental groups have concerns about the proposed development, such as how the Oak Ridges Moraine and water supply will be affected.

The OMB hearing is scheduled to run for three weeks.
